Avoid Contract Horror
November 1st, 2010 by Darrin Poole
We trust you all survived the onslaught of ghosts and ghouls that arrived at your doors last night. Though short, many were quite frightening. Well, except for that penguin.
With last night still fresh on our minds, we got to thinking about some of the horror stories we’ve run up against in helping companies get a handle on their contracts. Contract Management System. While most of us can agree on what constitutes a contract, there is tremendous variance in defining “management” and “system.”
The biggest horror stories we see are the ones where very, very large companies are trying to manage their contracts manually — file cabinets, spreadsheets, the brains of a select few employees who’ve been with the company since the beginning, etc. The story can get worse if you’re the type of company that is highly regulated or governed and/or where the expectations of “having explicit knowledge of your company’s obligations” is high.
You simply cannot know what your obligations are if you don’t have an efficient and effective way to create, store, and monitor your contracts. If you are the CEO, CFO, Attorney or Compliance Director for any of these companies, then this is your biggest nightmare.
The trick lies in the system. The treat lies in improved profits and reduced risk.
If you’d like to go from ghastly to great don’t miss out on powerful tools designed to reduce your risk and give you back your profits. To that extent, we have a demonstration that you should attend.
